Block internet access windows server 2003
I tried removing default gateway and DNS server but I am unable to launch my application. Also tried keep DNS entries to no avail. How can i cut off internet while keeping access to the application on LAN on server please? Block it at the firewall instead of messing with the server itself. Best practice would be to limit everything outbound at the firewall and restrict what all servers can get to. Do you have VLAN's or other remotes sites that connect to this server?
If so I am thinking you could remove just the gateway, and that might work for you. Otherwise you could create ACLs on your firewall or even switch blocking port 80 and outbound from this host.
I agree, address this at the firewall if you can. I suppose it would be possible to delete something in the routing tables but I wouldn't recommend it. Block on the firewall and you can also remove the Gateway for the network properties, but it is still on your network and can still poss a security risk. VLAN would be a better option in the long run. Brand Representative for SoftwareKeep. Asked 6 years, 5 months ago. Active 6 years, 5 months ago. Viewed times. Improve this question.

The problem is only on the server whereas it doesn't connect to the internet. Whenever I open a browser for any site it says it's not connected to the internet.
Even the AV is unable to pull necessary updates. I am thinking it's some setting which I am missing but can't seem to figure out which. Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes. I'm sorry about that, basically, I was thrown into this after our primary tech was injured. In so far as I can tell, the server was initially set up for a smal group of 5 people with the server performing DHCP behind a cable modem. It is set up as the only server and PDC.
NAT I'm sure has to be managed here because routing is not being managed elsewhere. DNS is resolved by the server. Server is So I can find my way around in server , but am unfamiliar with its capabilities and how to implement a simple policy like this.
